Now we are told that all those papers violated a fed eral law. This Is carrying the precaution against counterfeiting altogether too far. If anv misguided person should attempt to pas one of these uewspaper cats as money while there might be a good ring te it there would be liable to bo an ad vertisement of Carter's liver pills on tbe back of It, which would be apt te purge the act of all criminal lutenl Tie Democrats are aet a trifle til ceetHDtad ovr the discovery of a swell mistake in their calculations oa the electeral college ef 1892.

It will take 223 elocural votes to naae the next president. The Democrats have been counting en the solid south, New Yerk, New Jersey and Iedieoa, aader the calculation that this would give then 223 electoral votes. There wai a mistake of three votei ia thic calculation. The solid seeth has oaly 159, New York 36, New Jersey 10, Indiana 15, a total of 320. three less than a majority.

To get eat ef the dileaaaia tbe New York World elaiau that Michigan, under the aow district system, will eoo tribal the other three Deaecratie elec toral votes. If the Democrats hang their hopes en Michigan or even Indiana, they are liable te be disappointed. Te add to tho confus ion the strife between those who favor a square third party and those who insist that tbe Alliance shall he kept eat of politics aaakea a still farther split on another line.

Then the financial and business schemes of a co-operative character offer still another aubject for dispute aad differences. On top of this it appears that there has been a great falling off in the membership, which faet was sought to be kept secret fro the coaventlon, to the displeasuro ef many, while tho does have net been paid aad the treasury Is empty Takea altogether, the prospect for a eaited movement In any one direction Is net very favorable. Whin the anarchists break eat in their work ot destruction and throw bombs aad destroy human life, then everybedy yells for their suppression Bat as years roll by aad the excite ment eeols off, any interference with thoir revolutionary and ineendiary meetings Is mot with tbe bowl that the police have no a slates to inter fore with free speech, and that they can only interfere when some overt act ia perpetrated But, when the overt aet is perpetrated, it is too late te call back to life those slain or return to exist once the property destroyed. Which, therefore, shall It be, prevention of nihilistic plottings and preparations for violence, or let the violence pro ceed and howl afterwards? The peo pie (tenerally entslde of tbe dema gogues have already made up their minds horn of the dilemma they will stick Thu season ef fires has begun, and, while several qnite serious eonflagra tlen have already been reported from different parts of the country, still mere may be lookod for every day It never rains but It pours in the line of Gres every fall when heating ap paratuses begin to be fired tip for the winter campaign witholdBoreas.
